WHOLE ABALONE CANNED IN BRINE

Common Name: Geen Abalone, Pink Abalone.

Scientific name: Holiotis Fulgens, Haliotis Corrugata.

Management measures: The abalone fishery is regulated by NOM-005-CFSP-1993 (21.12.93 DOF) which defines four administrative areas and NOM-009-CFSP-1993 (DOF 3/4/94) establishes the procedure for determining the off-season.

Controls management of this resource are defined: catch quotas, minimum size of species (145mm and 135mm green abalone pink abalone) closed season by zone, mandatory use of a manual starter and graduate certificate and not captured by method ¨ ¨ low tide.

Since 2000, it launched a program for resource recovery, agreed between the INAPESCA and producers. This map is based on catch quotas taking into account an annual rate of growth for each bank, after setting a target reference point (PRO), based on population models adjuster annual estimates of biomass. The management plan aims to bring value where biomass production is maximized over.

Temporality: Zone II from 01 January to 31 July.

Volume or current quota: 22 tons and 2.5 tons abalone abalone.
